Stressing the need for reconciliation, he emphasized the essential role of all Canadians in advancing understanding and recognizing the rights of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
As part of fostering reconciliation, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship collaborated with Indigenous creators to produce a video, ‘Welcome, there is room,’ now featured in citizenship ceremonies across the country. Minister Miller expressed pride in attending a special citizenship ceremony at the Rogers Centre ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays’ Canada Day game, underscoring the meaningful experience new citizens and attendees share during oath-taking.
Encouraging Canadians to participate in citizenship ceremonies in their areas, Minister Miller invited all to engage with Canada’s diverse celebrations. Emphasizing the country’s multiculturalism, he urged individuals to embrace Canada’s unity through respect and inclusion, celebrating what brings the nation together—love for Canada.
