Gerber brand of infant cereal recalled due to possible bacterial contamination

**”Alert for Parents: Nestlé Canada Recalls Gerber Baby Cereal Over Bacterial Contamination Concerns”**
Nestlé Canada has issued a voluntary recall on a particular type of its Gerber baby cereal amid fears of potential bacterial contamination. The affected product, being the Gerber oat, banana, and mango baby cereal, has been sold both online and in stores across the nation, the company revealed in a statement released on Sunday.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) raised the alarm over the presence of Cronobacter bacteria in certain packages of the cereal, urging consumers to steer clear of the product. The warning extends to the regions of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and possibly other provinces and territories where the cereal has been distributed.
Although food tainted with Cronobacter may not exhibit visible spoilage indicators, it can cause adverse health effects, the CFIA cautioned. The bacteria has the potential to trigger severe intestinal infections and blood poisoning, particularly in newborns, with rare instances leading to bloodstream and central nervous system infections.
Consumers and retailers are advised to inspect the 227-gram cereal boxes bearing the lot code 3334007809 and a best-before date of May 30, 2025, along with the UPC code 0 65000 13361 5. Nestlé Canada emphasized that no other products under its brand or Gerber range in the country are impacted by the recall, and no illness reports have been received relating to the mentioned cereal.
Those who have purchased the recalled product are urged to discontinue its use, reach out to Nestlé consumer services at 1-800-387-4636 for reimbursement, and properly dispose of the item.
The safety of all consumers, especially the little ones, remains paramount in light of this development. Parents are urged to remain vigilant and act accordingly in the interest of their children’s well-being.
